The Sweet Girls Behind My Chicken Earrings
When we bought our first home at the beginning of 2025, we unexpectedly inherited something incredibly special along with it, a flock of 13 chickens.
Our girls were already older when they came into our lives, and many of them had ongoing health issues that required extra care and attention. Before this past year, I knew very little about chicken keeping, but these sweet girls quickly became such an important part of my daily life. Through them, I’ve learned so much about animal care, patience, heartbreak, and the quiet joy that can be found in simple routines.
Every morning starts with checking on them, talking to them, and watching all of their little personalities shine through. Each one is so different. Some even like to cuddle, like my girls Pigeon and Goldie. They can be curious, stubborn, dramatic, gentle, mischievous, and most of all loving. They’ve brought so much unexpected happiness into my life.
Loving animals so deeply also comes with heartbreak. Since bringing the flock into our lives, we’ve sadly lost 7 of our 13 girls. Each loss has been incredibly difficult, and caring for older or ill animals has taught me just how attached we can become to the small lives we care for every day.
But even through the difficult moments, these girls continue to inspire me constantly.
My collection of chicken earrings were created as a small tribute to them, inspired by their sweet personalities, soft feather textures, cozy colors, and the joy they bring to our home every single day. Each pair is individually hand-sculpted from polymer clay using custom-mixed clay colors, with every tiny detail formed entirely by hand. As with all of my polymer clay work, I didn't use any paint on these pieces.

Creating nature-inspired wearable art has always been deeply personal to me, and these little chickens feel especially close to my heart. They represent not only the beauty of animals, but also the connection, care, and quiet moments that often inspire my work most.
I hope these tiny sculpted hens bring a little warmth and joy to others the same way my sweet girls have brought so much joy to me 🤍
